Googlers Demand: Worker Safety & ICE Contract Transparency

This will be a 75 minute session dedicated to learning about and practicing 1:1 organizing, in preparation for our upcoming Googlers Against ICE Day of Visibility. The first ~20 min will consist of a short presentation and skill share about the one-on-one organizing conversation. Our training borrows heavily from the Organizing 4 Power training. During the training portion of this session, we will briefly cover structured organizing conversations: what they are, how they help you build power and relationships in the workplace and will help you to learn how to make the best use of them. The second half of this session is specifically devoted to practicing actual 1:1 conversations through role-play where participants will take turns playing both the coworker and the organizers. We highly recommend folks to attend our session, even if you've done similar trainings in the past, so that we can develop our relational organizing skills through 1:1 conversations. We recognize how daunting it can feel to have these sorts of conversations in the workplace... but with proper preparation and practice, we can feel more confident to build power and connect with our coworkers!

We are holding an all-hands meeting for Day-of-Visibility (DoV) participants and other Google workers / TVCs who are interested in participating. We request and strongly encourage that all pledged participants attend this meeting so that we can discuss important day-of logistics and be present together as a collective. This week (April 13th) is a fantastic opportunity to circulate the DoV pledge page to your co-workers who might be ready to join us. Even folks who haven't signed the petition might be motivated to do so if they know about the DoV event as a follow-up opportunity for action. Both the Bay Area and NYC hubs will be holding DoV socials (Bay RSVP, NYC RSVP). You can pitch this week as an opportunity to sign, pledge, and connect with like-minded Google workers. It is a great opportunity to build ties with other members, chat with organizers and pick up your merch! Come by to have a drink, hang out or even stop by for a moment to say hi. Feel free to bring your on-the-fence coworkers!

Hello Googlers Against ICE in the South Bay! We are meeting for a happy hour this Thursday at Sports Page, in anticipation of the petition's Day of Visibility on April 30th. The goal is to get together face-to-face, discuss logistics, invite newcomers to participate, and make friends :). This event is for all Googlers and TVCs. Workers who have already pledged to participate in the Day of Visibility can pick up merch, meet other participants, and bring co-workers along! Workers who have not yet pledged have a chance to meet the organizers and participants and ask questions. And of course, we will all eat some good food and strengthen our bonds as like-minded colleagues. See you there!
